Ethyltriphenylphosphonium bromide is a quaternary phosphonium salt used in organic synthesis and polymer technology. It can act as a phase-transfer catalyst, a phosphonium reagent, or a curing accelerator.
Compared to conventional ammonium salts, phosphonium salts may be preferred in processes requiring different reactivity or enhanced process stability.
Organic synthesis: Phase-transfer catalyst and reagent in the production of specialty organic compounds.
Polymers and coatings: Curing accelerator for selected epoxy resins, phenolic systems, and thermosetting powder coatings.
Fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals: Intermediate or precursor for phosphonium reagents used in the formation of carbon-carbon bonds.
