EWACERIN Type K is a lanolin alcohol compliant with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia, obtained from sheep wool wax. The raw material is a fraction rich in wax alcohols and lanolin sterols, including cholesterol, the content of which, according to the specification, is at least 30%. This allows EWACERIN Type K to play an important technological role in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations, particularly as a co-emulsifier in water-in-oil systems and as an ingredient supporting the product's barrier properties.
In protective and ointment formulations, EWACERIN Type K helps build a stable lipid structure, increases occlusivity, and improves the product's ability to form a durable protective layer on the skin's surface. It is particularly useful in products designed to reduce water loss, protect against moisture, friction, or external factors, and improve the comfort of dry, irritated, or intensively protected skin.
Due to its co-emulsifying and barrier properties, EWACERIN Type K is used in ointments, water-in-oil creams, protective creams, diaper rash products, baby care products, and rich dermocosmetic formulations. Compared to classic lanolin, it is not primarily a base emollient, but a more specialized structuring and co-emulsifying ingredient that enhances the stability, consistency, and protective nature of the formulation.
