Methyltributylammonium chloride, referred to as MTBAC, is a quaternary ammonium salt used as a phase-transfer catalyst. The asymmetric structure of its cation and good solubility in water enable the efficient transfer of ionic reactants between immiscible phases.
The 75% version is a ready-to-dose concentrate and can be considered as a process alternative to TBAB or other quaternary ammonium salts.
