ZymaLipid Complex is an innovative free fatty acid complex obtained through the fermentation of Rhodotorula toruloides yeast. Unlike conventional plant oils, whose lipid fraction consists primarily of triglycerides, ZymaLipid Complex directly provides a blend of fatty acids rich in oleic, linoleic and palmitic acids. This allows it to combine the functions of an emollient, moisturizing ingredient and texture modifier.
Its distinctive semi-solid structure changes with temperature – the ingredient is semi-solid at room temperature and becomes liquid at temperatures close to body temperature. This enables the development of formulations with a rich, creamy texture that spread easily during application and leave a soft, non-greasy skin feel. In application materials, ZymaLipid Complex is also used to reduce the hardness of oleogels and emulsions while maintaining their flow properties and improving rheological predictability.
Its lower crystalline structure rigidity can also facilitate emulsification, while its lipid profile allows it to function as a versatile component of the oil phase and to reduce the proportion of conventional cosmetic butters and plant oils in formulations.
